New Delhi: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met UAE crown prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday on the sidelines of the Brics Summit in New Delhi.The two leaders held talks during the meeting, but the embassy did not immediately provide details about the issues discussed, Iran International reports.In an X post, Iran in India wrote, “H.E. Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a meeting and talks with H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.”Earlier, Brics leaders unanimously adopted the New Delhi Declaration 2026, expressing deep concern over escalating tensions in West Asia and urging maximum restraint to prevent further deterioration. The declaration called for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and greater efforts through dialogue and diplomacy to achieve lasting peace and stability.The 18th Brics Summit is being held in New Delhi, India, under India’s 2026 BRICS chair. It is bringing together delegations from the BRICS members, partner countries, outreach invitees and several international organisations.US-Iran war entered sixth monthThe meeting comes at a time when the United States and Iran remain locked in a standoff, with the UAE emerging as one of the key regional partners involved in the wider Middle East conflict.The UAE has had a deeper involvement in the Middle East conflict than estimated. The United Arab Emirates had carried out strikes on Iran throughout the conflict and even a day after the April ceasefire was announced. The attacks were coordinated with the US and Israel, which provided intelligence support.
