The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the admit card for the Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2026. Candidates who have applied for this exam can now download their e-admit card from the official website, upsconline.nic.in.The CMS Examination 2026 will be held on August 2, 2026, which is a Sunday. It will be conducted across various centres in the country.UPSC has made it clear that no physical or paper admit card will be sent to candidates. The e-admit card is the only version being issued, and candidates must download it and take a printout well in advance. This printout has to be kept safe until the final results of the CMS Exam 2026 are declared.

Things candidates must carry to the exam centre
According to the press note issued by UPSC, candidates must carry the following items to the examination venue:
- Printout of the e-admit card
- Pen and pencil
- Identity proof
- Water in a transparent bottle
- Copies of self-photographs, wherever applicable
The Photo ID Card mentioned on the e-admit card is compulsory for entry. If a candidate’s photograph on the e-admit card is not clear, they will need to bring a photo identity card along with two passport size photographs. These photographs will be affixed on an undertaking at the venue itself, for every session they appear in.Items that are not allowed insideUPSC has clearly listed the items that candidates cannot carry inside the examination premises. These include:
- Mobile phones
- Smart watches and digital watches
- Other IT gadgets
- Books
- Bags
- Any other valuable or costly items
The Commission has also said that venue supervisors will not arrange any place to keep these banned items. So if a candidate brings any such item, they will have to make their own arrangement to keep it outside, and UPSC will not take responsibility for any loss.Only a normal or simple wrist watch is allowed inside the exam hall. Smart watches, or watches with any special features that could be used to communicate or cheat, are strictly banned. Calculators are also not allowed for the objective type papers.Candidates have been specifically told to carry a black ball point pen with them. This pen must be used to fill the OMR answer sheets for both papers, as well as the attendance list. UPSC has mentioned that no other pen will work for this purpose.
Reporting time and entry rules
Candidates are advised to reach the exam venue at least one and a half hours before the session begins. This time will be used for face authentication, identity verification, and frisking.The entry gates will close 30 minutes before the exam starts. This means:
- For the Forenoon Session, entry closes at 9:00 AM
- For the Afternoon Session, entry closes at 1:30 PM
No candidate will be allowed to enter after these times, no matter what the reason. Candidates also cannot appear at any centre other than the one mentioned on their own e-admit card.UPSC has also warned that if a candidate is found carrying a mobile phone or any other electronic or communication device, even in switched-off mode, strict action will be taken. This can include cancellation of candidature, an FIR or police complaint, and being stopped from appearing in the remaining sessions or days of the exam. The Commission can also take any other action allowed under the examination rules.
Changed your name? Here is what to do
If any candidate has legally changed their name after applying for the exam, they must carry a government issued photo ID that shows this changed name. This has to be produced at the exam centre in every session. Without it, the candidate may not be allowed to enter the examination premises.UPSC has asked all candidates to check that their name, photograph and QR code on the e-admit card are correct. In case of any mistake, candidates should immediately write to the Commission at soe13.upsc@gov.in so that the issue can be sorted out in time.
