Josey Dorsey, is following in his late mother, Naya Rivera‘s footsteps and has landed his first acting job.
Naya Rivera’s son lands acting role
Josey, who turns 11 on September 17, has reportedly bagged a role in the upcoming film ‘The Burning Valley’, in which he will appears alongside his father, actor Ryan Dorsey. As per his IMDb page, he has been cast as “Boy” in the upcoming film, while Ryan is credited as “Father”.
About ‘The Burning Valley’
Written and directed by Evan Curry in his feature directorial debut, The Burning Valley is currently filming on location in Pennsylvania’s Rust Belt. Speaking to local publication TribLive, Curry revealed the plot of the film. He shared, “The movie is about a steelworker who loses his job when the mill announces a shutdown. It sets him on a journey as he wanders through his Rust Belt town.”Curry went on to add that the project is a “small, poetic film about deindustrialization with an emotional truth.”
Josey Dorsey’s acting credits
The film role comes after Josey previously appeared in the theatre production Seussical Jr. in West Virginia, where he lives with his father. His move into acting comes six years after the tragic demise of his mother, Naya Rivera, who was best known for playing Santana Lopez on Fox’s hit musical comedy-drama ‘Glee’.
About Naya Rivera’s death
Rivera died on July 8, 2020, at the age of 33 after an accidental drowning at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. Authorities concluded that Rivera had managed to get her son back onto the boat after they entered the water, but was unable to save herself. After spending several days in a ‘search and recovery’ operation, Rivera’s body was found on July 13, 2020.
